"I Want to Know What Love Is" is a 1984 power ballad recorded by the British-American rock band Foreigner. The song hit No1 in both the United Kingdom and the United States and is the group's biggest hit to date.

My Cover is based on The Shadows instrumental version on their 1987 CD “Simply Shadows”

Used by Alan Brason Strat with Kinman FV-HMS pickups for the main tune and my
Fender 56nos custom Strat with Kinman Impersonator 54’s V3 for the 2nd guitar part through an Alesis Quadraverb Q2 with EFTP patch 0-36. Presonus Audiobox USB soundcard and into Cubase on the computer.

I modified a commercial Backing Track by raising the pitch by 1 semitone and shortening it to match The Shadows version.

Edited in Sony Vegas Pro 9.

Love the "pick and finger" technique!
A great track, played to perfection as always.
Surprised how much "warmer" the Impersonators in the second guitar sounded, even allowing for the fact they were set on N+M. Great tone.

Hi Ian - Many thanks for commenting - The impersonators do have a mellow sound - I just wanted the 2nd guitar to sound different to the main one. Some great tracks on Simply Shadows hard to believe it's nearly 30 years old.
The Pick & Finger technique is something that happens without thinking it just seems easier that way.
