Hall & Collins Echo

I got my machine last week and I have since then tested it at home so far. I think it´s a really good tool to get you closer to the early Hank sounds. I have for the first time tried to do some home video and very simple just by putting the camera in front of my Vox AC30 where I use an EF86 channel from Roger Allcock (Vintage unit). The H&C echo goes directly in to the Vox, no EQ or other processing. I use D´Addario Chromes Flatwounds 12-52 on a Fender Vintage 57 reissue. The camera was set for manual volume (no compression).

I have so far made two recordings:

Sweet Dreams

Somewhere

Two good clear recordings.

To my cloth ears, Sweet Dreams sounds like the original but Somewhere, even allowing for the absence of the DeArmond, isn't quite the same.

Thanks Iain,
My intention of this version "Somewhere" was to make something sounding as 1962-ish, not quite like the original Shads version that came later.
