Legend at the Bonnington Hotel 2004

Postby KurtFroberg » 13 Jan 2018, 11:57

Hi all,
Just wanted to share this video of mine from the Shadows Fan Gathering at the Bonnington Hotel, London on June 13 2004, the evening before The Shadows Final Tour was finished at the London Palladium. It was arranged by, if I remember correct, Jim Nugent, Alan Taylor, George Geddes and Spencer Scott. There was an audience with Shadows fans from all over the world.
This is just my personal video memories and this part only covers the beginning of the evening and some of Legend´s excellent set of Shadows´Burns tunes. What a great band, just listen to their "Naughty Nippon Nights"!
There are many familiar faces from the Shadows community.

Enjoy!
Kurt

Many thanks Kurt for posting this -- and for making the video in the first place.

Some terrific guitar sounds in there, particularly The War Lord and Thunderbirds, and great to see the late Chris Jarvis tackling Naughty Nippon Nights. Well done to David, Terry, Chris and Martin and to guests Jim and Licorice.

Thanks for posting that, Kurt.

It is the first time I have seen any video of the Event, though I know that several people were recording it for posterity.

In this approximate order, I recognise the following luminaries:

Roberto Pistolesi [Santa Croce sull'Arno]
Alessandro Tonini [Forte dei Marmi]
Giancarlo Migliacci [Pisa]
Martin Verrill [Legend]
Ron Wood [SMSE member]
Mickey Knight [SMSE member]
Chris Jarvis [Legend]
Graham Jones [Mean Streak bassist]
David Martin [Legend]
George Geddes [George Geddes]
Alan Taylor [Pipeline editor]
Ray Liffen [The Secrets]
Jim Nugent {The Secrets]
Terry Carter [Legend]
Colin Pryce-Jones [The Rapiers]
Steve Hammond [Mean Streak lead guitarist]
Chas De Lacey [Evening Shadows]
Yaeko Sata [Tokyo]
Kevin Wooten [SMSE member]
Alan Wooten [Kev's brother]
Licorice Locking [used to be with some band or other]

There were lots of other people at the event, but not necessarily seen in this video. Notable omissions include Spencer Scott, who was busy controlling entry, collecting money and tuning the cash register.

Got any more, Kurt?

Thank you so much for posting this... I don't think I've ever seen this before and it brought back very happy memories.

I hope you don't mind, but I've taken the liberty ofbrepistong it in Facebook for my younger "friends" to see what I got up to back then.
