Aldi/Medion £39.99p Camcorder Test....

Postby sausage fingers » 05 Feb 2010, 00:46

I think i finally figured out how to record a clip on the little Aldi £39.99p camcorder and do a basic upload to 4 Shared. This is just a test to see what the picture looks like and to judge if i should buy a more expensive camera. I didn't have any backing tracks set up so i just noodled around in the key of G on my telecaster with the mini neck humbucker which i just installed.
You notice i was totally prepared for this with unscrubbed hands, dirty jeans after putting a new alternator belt on the car, and i'll fasten my fly next time around
So take it all on face value and let me know what you think of the picture quality, is it a hit or a miss for utubey type of recording, it did seem to loose something when i transfered the file from my other computer.
Edit here's the Utube link.........

Tell you what Rob, that's a good picture and a good sound , regardless whether or nor you thought it lost something - I'd say that the camera is a bargain.

Thanks Dave
Just to say the sound was recorded into my audio recorder at the same time as I used the camera, so the sound you hear is not coming from the camera. The sound off the camera is as you would expect with something at this price point

So that's why it sounded so good? You really need to show the sound from the camera Rob.

My camcorder cost £200+ and the sound is awful.

For the price and for the picture/not the sound, this has got to be worth it.

Well done

Walt i was using 11 gauge strings with a medium action in that clip, i find i can get a better clean jazzy type tone with that set up,. I use 9 and 10 gauge when i really want to let loose and chicken pick or get things moving a bit , i also drop the action some, i find playing with 9's feels almost like playing on rubber bands though, must admit i prefer an higher action.....probably with playing a lot of acoustic with 12's.
Just opened a Utube account seems to play and load a bit faster there, i'll record something a bit more adventurous before long.
