Can anyone remember the Rolling Stones (or at least Brian Jones) doing something similar on Ready Steady Go?

If my memory serves me well, there were four sillhouettes in classic Shadows pose playing Apache, and at the end of the number the spotlight fell on the face of the lead guitarist who just happened to be Brian Jones...

... or was I dreaming it (Nurse, it's time for my medicine!)

I liked the way Cliff passed on the muted bits - probably a good choice. I also knew that Inspector Hank was going make an appearance somewhere. I guess that was fairly predictable. But it's one for posterity I suppose. Thanks for posting it. Len

Personally I think he should have learned the tune before he recorded this fiasco.
I know its probably done for a laugh but it is sore on the ears :o

Stick to your singing job Cliff old boy

Yes, the one he claims to have never played - interestings . . . . . ;)

I actually remember seeing this on TV at the time, Cliff goes on to sing 'Don't Be Mad At Me' - I'd have f***** throttled him.

And... interesting to note that the guitar was Hank's 34346, the guitar on which Apache was recorded, sounding here like a bunch of slack elastic bands.

Doesn't this prove conclusively that "that sound" doesn't really reside in the EF86, the Strat, the Vox, or, indeed (Justin!!! 8-) ) the Meazzi, but in the hands of the man?

Slack elastic bands sounds about right. It'd have been good if we could have heard Hank play the guitar immediatelly after Cliff just to prove your point :geek:
