I did know that curious version already. In fact, this was the reason why Raulin, the player, put the title in German.

I looked it up afterwards and apparently Marlene Dietrich wrote the German lyrics to Bruce's tune. I can speak a little bit of German so had wondered about that.

The Marlene Dietrich clip is priceless!

So cleverly done - edited to make it look as though she is actually singing. And the mandolin strummer - Bruce to a T. Or, given what we know about the Shads' recording, perhaps Hank to T?

Do I also hear a reference to Walking In The Air in the orchestral arrangement?
