Very nice Abe, I had my first guitar synth in 1988, a Shadow Guitar to midi converter. The tracking was horrendous and it required a separate keyboard.
Did you listen to Yesterday in the Buttles collection that I put up ? The guitar synths ( we had 2) did a very good emulation of the string quartet.

Glad you liked it.

Roland now has a much advanced version GR-55, but a friend told me that the sounds are not as good as my GR-20.
Hard to believe. Maybe it's a matter of settings. I am sure they have improved the latency as it isn't very good in the GR-20
I am using. It doesn't match with the speed of playing. You hit the string then you hear the sound.
Get one Bojan, you will have much fun.

Eric,
I watched all the videos and read the article from your glorious era (1963) Amanda posted (super). At that time, my band was called "The Djinns" and we were the only ones around daring to play the famous 5/4 "Take Five", before we merged 2 bands and became "The Blazers". But you will not be able to find anything about us for that period unfortunately. There was no connection to the oustide world, just pictures.

Abel....the GR-55 is much improved in almost every way. Some "complaints" have been made that the PCM sounds in the 55 aren't as good as the Gr20 was. To that I say follow the postings on this forum:

http://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=4769.0 ;)

The 55 is so programmable, that it's only as good as you want to make it.

Guitar synth is a great way to add keyboard-like sounds to any group that doesn't have a keyboard player.
It does require some practice tho.
