Besame Mucho - Shadowmania 2011

Postby donna plasky » 10 Apr 2012, 19:17

Dear Friends: I was watching the YouTube video of Besame Mucho from last year's Shadowmania, after doing a search on the words "Jet Harris Tribute." I was wondering if I could ask you a couple of questions. I am still in the learning phase and I am very intrigued by this performance.

What instrument is Alan Jones playing? I've made some observations about the instrument, but overall I am not sure.

And, at the very end of the song, when Alan picks the last few notes, he took his left hand off the neck and placed it very near his right hand. Was that a form of muting? Or was it meaningless...just putting his hand there to rest, etc.? I had never seen/heard Alan play this song before, and I thought he was magnificent.

Thanks for your help. I appreciate it very much.

At the end, Alan is using his left hand to bend the last notes using the tremolo arm.

I never tire of watching Jonesy's left hand. Effortless, economical, exact every time. A true artiste at work.
