GHOST TRAIN in memory of Bert Weedon

Postby Stratpicker » 20 Apr 2012, 10:17

Thanks to Bert I started to play the guitar and its sad to read of his passing today.
I even appeared on the same Bill as Bert in 1964 at the Carlisle Club, Eccles.
What a Gent and what a supreme Showman and guitarist.
This was always one of my favourites of his - GHOST TRAIN.
Backing track is by Warren Bennett and Co - "Turned Out Nice Again" CD from Leos Den, with the "creaking door" intro and outro from t'interweb.
God Bless, Bert
cheers

Nice Tribute Ian, I must admit I don't know many of Bert's songs.
But I do remember "play in a day".
Good playing and backing and some very authentic sound effects.
Cheers Phil

Thanks Phil
You reminded me that I had forgotten to acknowledge the great BT that Warren had made for this track so I have amended my Post above.
cheers

A great record by Bert and I really enjoyed your version Ian - terrific guitar sound for this number.

When I heard the eerie footsteps and the creaking door I was waiting for the chilling laughter (or a blood curdling scream!!)

Hello Roger, Martin and Tony (fastfingers) Szpala and thanks for listening.
Thank you for all the kind remarks. Bert was a guitar Hero of mine and instrumental (no pun intended) in getting me started. Also, having met him when I was 16 and then again some 45 years later, recording Ghost Train was a personal thing.
Glad you liked it.
BTW - the guitar was my Brason STRAT using a NECK + BRIDGE pickup selection. Makes it sound very "hollowbody".
