DRIFTER/LG50 DRIFTIN.

Postby Geoff Alderton LH » 25 Oct 2009, 10:52

Hi all. I posted this tune a few years ago, on the original Shadow Music site. The tune was done using a custom build left handed LG50. All the electrics were taken from an original right handed Antoria LG50, pickups, pots, capacitor, wiring etc etc. In view of Mr Gibson putting the Burns Drifter re issue on the back burner I thought it right to keep the LG50/drifter subject alive, seeing as the Antoria was a part of the Shadows early guitar history, and hope that the Drifter project gets back on the front burner sometimes in the new year. Regards Geoff.

In April 2006, a few weeks before he left us, Roberto Pistolesi came to France for a presentation about "that sound" at a Shadtech meeting (I was in charge of translation).
You can see here Roberto (left), and an Antoria in the hands of his friend ALessandro who was his demonstrator :

You can see behind other well known equipments...

Good morning Didier. I had the pleasure of meeting Roberto quite a few times at Shadowmainia, the last time being when I bought one of his ARIAB units. I met Alessandro on one occasion via Jim N, and the Antoria was the subject of the conversation. Alessandro had problems understanding my broad Yorkshire accent,as do my wife and kids at times, but never mind it was a pleasure to meet them.
I do hope the Burns Drifter gets the go ahead in the new year, ok its not everybody's cup of tea, but the Antoria is a guitar that a young Hank walked into a shop and thought 'thats the guitar I want' and then bought it. Again as we all know it didnt last long and he was never impressed with it but its part of the Shadows guitar history and as such deserves to be rembered. I will now get down from my soap box and wish you all the best.
Regards Geoff.
