Midnight - Recreating the sound of '61 video

Postby Stranded Albatross » 06 Nov 2012, 08:54

This is my attempt to recreate the sound and feel of the original 1961 recording. I welcome all comments, though not too technical please due to lack of recording equipment and experience.

I hope you enjoy it.

I used the following for the recording:

'62 Reissue type CIJ stratocaster
'57/'62 Fender pickups
9-46 Dean Markley strings
Original Line 6 PodPro Mk1 with drive to add some distortion
Quad+

Hello Phil

I appreciate your view on this version of mine. Coming from such an experienced guitar as yourself it is very encouraging. Having viewed your YouTube uploads which are very professional, I am going to have to concentrate on this area much more.

I did have to work quite hard to get the tone, but am pleased with the result.

Regards
Ian

It's a great effort with the gear you have at your disposal and sounds authentic tone-wise. Add the eTap2hw and with the 'Midnight' patch you've cracked it !

Hello Roger, Dave and Steve, thank you all for your very positive comments, which I really appreciate. I do like a bit of a challenge so trying to get a decent result out of older digital equipment is worth the effort.

Dave I have been following the eTap2hw section with interest, but have to say that such a project is beyond me. However I wouldn't mind trying one. It has created a huge amount of interest and there are some good looking results in the forum.

Regards

Ian
