If Tomorrow never comes (video)

Postby Phil McGarrick » 27 Nov 2012, 22:34

Hope you like my cover of Hank Marvin's instrumental version "If Tomorrow never comes" from the Guitar Man album.
It was written by Garth Brooks and Kent Blazy and was a beautiful vocal and big hit for Garth and also made famous by Ronan Keating.

A live recording and video using my Alan Brason stratocaster with Kinman FV-HMS pickups.(Hanks modern sound )
Alesis Quadraverb Q2 programmed with Charlie Hall's echoes from the past (EFTP) patch 0-36.
Sound recorded in Cubase and mixed with the Video edited in Sony Vegas.

The Backing track came from Ian McCutcheon's workout 15 and the Tabs from Tony Clout - both available here :- http://www.tabman.co.uk/shadows-guitar-tabs-15.htm

All comments welcome

Great stuff once again Phil 8-)
Lovely tune and played so well.
I'm always intrigued by your downstroke style of playing. I alway try to alternate with the pick, but I guess you get the sound you desire with that technique as opposed to down and up picking suggested in most tutors.
Hugh.

Hi Hugh,
Thanks for the nice comments.
With regard to the down strokes - I tend to "default" to this unless the tune is fast and can't be played just on down strokes.
Also If I want that different sound that up strokes produce I'll use it then.
I had a look back at the vid and there seems to be a mixture of both.

All the best... Phil

I picked up a habit of upstrokes a while back which I never noticed til my son pointed it out while watching me play, when I ran the video's back I saw what he meant and have since tried to rectify it
