(Muting is one of my bugbears. Love the sound but can never seem to get it consistent over all the strings - especially the 1st.
Being the lightest gauge the 1st can sound quite weak next to the others and as it's also sitting at the outer edge, I find it easy not to mute it properly and get a sort of half mute/half plink sound. If my palm can't sit evenly across the strings right on the bridge there's a risk the notes may go sharp too, sounding as if the guitar's out of tune and for this reason I occasionally change the standard trem arm for one similar to an (aptly named) Easi-Mute that I have, which gives me more room to push my hand further across the bridge without squishing against the base of the trem arm and thus get a more secure and even/level contact between palm and strings/bridge. I find it does help and is worth looking at if you don't already have something similar fitted.
Thanks for your kind comments regarding the track - much appreciated.
Cheers,
