MEXICANA TEX

Postby Stratpicker » 17 Feb 2013, 18:10

Hello again
An own Composition this time. Didnt know what to call it – “Mexicana Tex” won because the style of music is called TexMex in the USA. Any better ideas for a title??
BT in BandInABox again. Lots of fun with 7 tracks INCLUDING a "live" rhythm track from a Tanglewood Jumbo
Its an AABABA+long double coda. The idea was that each time the B came up it would result in a key change. I hope you think it worked. And somehow because of that, I wasnt able to end with a “standard 8 bar coda and lets all go the Pub”. It goes on a bit - I hope you don't mind.
And before you ask – yes, its my Brason Strat but on “quacking” bridge and middle setting.

Hi Ian - I've listened to this several times as a new song deserves more than 1 listening - and it it gets better each time. Very catchy tune and I like the Mexican rhythm with the accordion running through it.
Love the solo break between 1:21 & 1:45 change of pickup and a style similar to Hank's acoustic playing. Very well thought out and executed. Haven't thought of another name for it but Mexicana Tex sounds fine to me. I think this is a great own composition along with an excellent backing track.
Very well done... Phil

It just goes to show that you can't tell a book by it's cover.
I've skimmed past this thread several times thinking that I wouldn't be too keen on a tune with the title of "Mexicana Tex" and after hearing it how wrong I was!

Super soundfile with tasteful playing and some really accurate string bending. Excellent Ian especially after having written it and put together the backing track.

Hi Roger and Linnie
thanks for the comments - much appreciated as always.
Roger - I was really stuck for a title and it was the best I could come up with  . A mate has suggested "Tejano Nights". :?: :? Quite different in style but it still has that Shadowsy sort of feel to it. Those string bends come about because of the m7b5ths in there. It seemed to work better than putting a couple of notes in.
Linnie - Glad you liked it. Ithink I got it out of my system now - lol
cheers

Loving this Ian - full of life and energy... A great tune and well done on that backing track! Really great feel from the kit and percussion, very natural - especially the rolls and flams....excellent!

Would fit right into a Tarantino movie!

Best
