Nights in White Satin. Video

Postby Phil McGarrick » 22 Feb 2013, 16:20

"Nights in White Satin" is a 1967 single by The Moody Blues, written by Justin Hayward.
My Instrumental version is based on The Shadows track from the "Moonlight Shadows" Album on 1986.
A live recording using my Alan Brason Strat, Kinman FV-HMS pickups VOX AC30 with a Weber Mass attenuator DI output into Alesis Quadraverb Q2 programmed with EFTP patch 0-36.
Into Presonus Audio USB and Cubase on the computer.
I used Steve Gibbs Tabs as I was playing this with a Footime USB PDF page turner operated with my right foot.
A Dunlop DVP1 volume pedal for the swells with my left foot.
The BT came from UB Hank Vol 6.
The Tabs are available from Steve's website here:-
http://www.bbigmusic.com/bbigmusic/Guitar_Tabs.html
The BT is available from Leo's Den here :-

Hope you enjoy "Nights in White Satin" Cheers Phil

Great playing, great sound and great SHIRT (satin I presume).

Very nice Phil, as smooth as 'satin' with some lovely foot pedal work. You seem to have mastered this modern Shads sound pretty well with your own unique touch.

Great.

Hi John - Yes the shirt is a relic from Bungleflint days (fake) Satin if I remember - a job lot for the band on Ebay - we even had some black ones. Thought I'de give it an airing before the moths destroy it.
Thanks for the nice comments on the song - one that Maurice did a great job on playing lead - I used to play the rhythm and it was always one of our favourites and went down well with the audience.

All the best.... Phil
