Cat 'n Mouse

Postby Phil McGarrick » 20 May 2013, 15:22

This is a Marvin/Welch/Bennett composition first released on "Life in the Jungle" Album in 1982. and later on the "Dancing in the Dark" album.
I personally love the Shadows own compositions and they always choose a very appropriate title to their tunes.
Recorded Live directly into my Alesis Q2 (Via a samson wireless system) using patch 0-36.
The BT came from Ian McCutcheon's workout 9.
The Tabs are available from Tony Clout although I played mine mostly in different fret positions to the Tabs.
3 x Sony SR12 Video cameras used and edited in Sony Vegas.
Hope you like Cat 'n Mouse.
Cheers Phil

Hi Phil
Not being able to play for a while whilst by burned hand recovers, it was a blessing to hear some great music.
Always been a tune I have admired and you do a superb job, as usual, on it.
Not an easy piece at all and you have it spot on.
Even right at the end (3.06 where the chord adds the Bb just before the finishing chords) it is just excellent.
cheers

Hi Ian - Very sorry to hear about your burnt hand - Hope it recovers quickly. :(
I heard someone play this last Sunday at Exeter shadows club and I thought what a great song
why haven't I tried it before. You can tell it's a Marvin/Welch/Bennett composition they wrote some great tunes
which unless you have the album you wouldn't know about them.
Many thanks for your great comment.
All the best... Phil

Hi Roger - It was Ray Hill who played it at the Exeter do. Never met him before and he did a great job on this one and others.
Gave me the inspiration to give it a go.
Very glad you liked it and many thanks for the comment.
Cheers Phil

Hi Phil, it's great to here your rendition of that number! and, great playing as usual. I too have always been a lover of the'Shads' own compositions'. In my opinion, the title track from the album is a cracker along with 'No Dancing', which has a tremendous 'feel' to it.
Thanks for posting 'Cat 'n' Mouse' Phil, i really enjoyed it.
See you over here in a few months my friend :)

Very best wishes, from, Rich'.
