When was Greenburst Marvin first used?

Another Question that comes to mind on Hanks greenburst, was it at anytime fitted with grey scratchplates as on some photo's it does look as though the plates had a texture to them or was this just a trick of the camera on the eye? Also the photo of the D6 in Mike Reads book taken from Wonderful life performing On The Beach looks like that as well1

I am yet again amazed at what the threads on this site throw up.

Have a look at http://youtu.be/_t1JAVgR_6w, posted by Captain Haddock on another thread. At 01.24 in this clip from "Finders Keepers" (which I must have seen before but had forgotten) there is a good view of the Greenburst Marvin, with hardly any gap between the central and upper scratchplates.

Help, I think I may be turning into an anorak (or in the model railway world, a rivet counter!).

I'm sure that the green rust (and red burst) guitars, whether Marvin, Double Six or bass version of the Double Six, were all fitted with black, gloss-finish scratch plates. Some examples of the white Marvin (and perhaps the Shadows Bass) were fitted with grey shell scratch plates as an alternative to brown/red shell finish. The same material was used on white examples of the Bison models, post-1964.

This thread got me to watch some of Finders Keepers, which I hadn't seen in a long while. I happened to notice that John Rostill is playing a 12-string acoustic guitar in this scene, which I thought was cool. And isn't it hard to believe that the Marvin Welch & Farrar concerts were almost 35 or 40 years ago? Hank's got the Greenburst guitar, like you said.
