I read that in New Jersey they have seized 185 counterfeit guitars valued at $1m from China. This business must be massive now. Probably be a problem in the future as the ones in the market place are such good fakes they may fool many people especially if buying over the Internet. There seems to be a glut of very high priced so called vintage guitars on the market. Makes you wonder where they have all come from. I would be very suspect about purchasing a rare guitar through the Internet unless it was a known and trusted person/dealer

A few years ago, a friend from our french Shadows forum ordered a "Marvin" model Strat from a Chinese online supplier, with fiesta red body, gold hardware and maple fingerboard.
Sereral claims were needed to have something delivered, and when the guitar arrived in the end, it was a bad quality Strat copy, with none of the advertised spécifications...

Of course you realise that no way can 180 counterfeit guitars be worth $1 million, as that would value them at over $5500 each, and most of them only cost about $300!
