Thanks for the nice words about my guitars.
On the picture you can see L to R a Original 65 Burns Marvin-40th 2004 Marvin-Original Burns 64 Double Six-2004 GB Custom Build Marvin-1980 Marvin 24 fret customized...and a D28 acoustic.
Graham, indeed I mean the encloseing neckpocket....and yes the paint cracks a little most of the time.
I have handled more then 30 original Marvin's maybe nearly 50, I lost count in the last 35 years....most of them had indeed the little crack in the paint.
It's only cosmetic in 9 time out of 10,I held only one sample, wich was knocked over and had a repaired wood crack in that neckpocket.
The strat like neckpocket, isn't my cup of tea
The switch to the stratlike neckjoint(like yours)was made after a few complaints from new owners of the 40th 2004 Marvin's about the tiny haircracks in the paint
Back then I called them sissy's

because it's only vintage correct and doesn't effect the playabillety and the construction of the guitar. I wrote back then,"how about applaude Barry for going all the way,to get it vintage correct"
