Hi Brian that is a great picture should have kept the haircut ! You have a white one. I think refinishing it to the original would still make it non original and would not add a great deal of value depends on whether you do it yourself or not. I noticed the all original red ones fetch between £100 - 150 more than the ones which have been stripped back
Paul Day had a white one which got stripped back and he is going to put it back to white in the future. I am sure he will do a great job and hope he will post the finished result on here. Nostalgia is worth a lot

Hi Ray
If you decide to refinish you may find some wonderful grain underneath. I am restoring an Artiste Bass and decided to have a transparent Cherry to show of the grain. Certainly an improvement but a bit different to an original

When I have removed the scratchplates I have found a 3 digit number stamped into the body. 595,805 685. I know of two other owners who have these numbers stamped into the body. My Artiste bass has 395L stamped.
Has anyone else noticed these numbers in theirs. I am not sure what these numbers represent. However on one model there was a number written on it with some wording stating a 3 digit number.
I am wondering if the L on the bass represented long scale. I don't think it can be the number of models produced as on the earlier de luxe is 805 and I did not think that many were produced
