Marquee in a strange colour

Postby balston11 » Thu Feb 23, 2017 11:49 am

I gave been contacted via my website about a Marquee. It is an unusual colour described as a Metallic Pink it seems from the serial number to be a 2000 model. I can't find any reference to Marquees being made in this colour so maybe it is some special run or something anyone any thoughts or ideas? He bought it for a stupidly cheap price and it came with a Burns hard case.

There was a fairly rare but available factory custom Fender colour like that called 'burgundy mist' IIRC...maybe it was a custom order for that Burns...

Yes I have a couple of Burgundy mist guitars and that colour came straight to mind. Could well be a respray

It may not be a respray.

The factory seemed to have had a habit of producing short runs in non-catalogue colours.
Here's the official Batwing range - Baby Blue, Teal Green, Candy Red and Two-tone sunburst

Yet here's my Batwing, in non-standard Fiesta Red (in real life it's a litlle more pink than my photo shows)

Barry G saw it when he came to my studio and noted it as a genuine 'variation'.
