Green Burns Bass

Postby Iain Purdon » Sun Feb 11, 2018 3:41 pm

This low-quality photo is taken from a TV appearance by Hank (probably promoting his Hank Plays Cliff CD) and I am struck by the green Burns bass Mark Griffiths is playing (or miming with). I'm not sure which model it is, although I assume it's a Legend, but the toast rack has been removed, which I take to mean that Mark was using it for more than TV purposes around this time. I've never seen Mark as a Burns enthusiast so I wonder why? Does anyone know?

Looking through my files, I found a photo of the Oasis stand at Pipeline 1996 (or thereabouts) which has a blue sunburst Shadows bass. It might have been described as a Mark Griffiths signature bass? No toast rack, and the headstock matched the body colour.

Likewise Barry G playing a red Shadows bass at the 1995 Convention. Also no toast rack though the headstock was not painted.
