Barry Gibson Retires ? What happens to Burns ?

Postby Billyboygretsch » Thu Jun 18, 2020 12:11 pm

Seems that Barry Gibson has retired from Burns with immediate effect. 28 years and by far the longest owner of Burns. Has done some great works over the years. Thanks
The Marvin ceased production last year but a few around in dealers. Guess Secondhand prices will increase ?

Yes , I had an e mail from Neil Silverman of Newtone Strings today, advising that they would
not be packaging as Burns Vistasonic anymore, although still available under Newtone label to
special order

Hi Bill,

I've heard that about 18 months ago, already....but I thought it was via via aka kinda rumour.
Because some tried to purchase something and it was never realized, because things were on the move already....

Cheers Rob

Seems it's true :( . According to Company House, Barry stepped aside 16th June this year: https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/02668005

I hope the new owners do as good a job as Barry did - fingers crossed.

Edit: meant to add: Best wishes to Barry in whatever he may do going forward. He did a great job with the Burns London brand and leaves behind a great many happy customers. :)

Just had another look at the data on the companies house site, and it seems that one of the new directors is Lee Anderton, who I believe is the current MD of Andertons Music company.

Would be great to see more UK production - I hope they continue the "Dream" range.

That's VERY interesting. It would imply that the name, at least, is safe...

Here's to a long and happy retirement, Barry.

Wonder if they are looking for consultants?
