The new owners of Burns have now revealed the set up. They will build Burns guitars to the closest original specs possible. I would think the early low impedance pick ups would be replaced.

I would think it likely that some parts will need to be sourced from abroad even if final assembly is in the U.K.
At least it seems as if things are starting to move forward.

I met for lunch with Eddie Cross and Barry Gibson during last week. Both seem to be in fine fettle. Barry seems a lot less stressed and in good humour

Thanks for the update Bill, it all sounds promising. I wonder if they will revive the Marvin, re-name it to avoid licensing costs (as per Legend/Dream), or drop it altogether (hope not)?

Seems Marc Lamaq will be producing U.K. built Burns to very accurate specs. Not sure when they will be available. Bjarne Spens in Denmark has a lot of stock as well as some U.K. dealers. Not sure what models will be continued

Thanks for the update. As you know, Marc has produced guitars for Burns in the past, so his current involvement adds a nice touch of continuity moving forward :)

Spoke with Barry the other day and he has been going through some treatments at the hospital. He has spoken with both Alan and Marc and is interested on how things are progressing with Burns. I told him I’m not aware of any progress at the moment

Hope it's nothing serious.

It must be frustrating for Barry having to watch from the side lines after all those years running the company, but at least he now has more time for himself and his family. No doubt the current Covid situation will have delayed progress with "New Burns".

Burns news update

It would seem that Burns have now an agreement with Marc Lamaq to produce the new Burns models in U.K. I don’t know which models will be produced but hope to find out soon. I am lending some of my early models to Marc over the next month in order to verify detail. I will keep updated of any news I hear. I can’t see much appearing for at least 3 months.
I’m not sure if Alan Entwistle will be involved in builds in the Far East. There are now very few of the Jazz styled models produced earlier this year.. I believe Alan is still in the U.K. since February
If anyone else has any news please keep us informed.
Seems Barry Gibson is busy decorating and is well .

Thanks for the latest update. It's great to hear things are still moving forward and good to know that Marc is involved. From the sound of things, it would appear we're going to be treated to some excellent re-productions of the earlier models.

Looking forward to developments :P
