Burns SSJ

Postby boing93 » Wed Mar 03, 2021 1:16 pm

Hiya

Recently thought about purchasing a Burns guitar of some description. Have been close to getting the 2004 ltd ed but pulled back. Not sure I want to spend that much at the moment. I picked up on the recent SSJ model which has good reviews ,but cant find one anywhere. Any ideas/advice at all ?
Cheers
Dave.

Since the buy out last year, and until the re-launch (hopefully later this year), Burns guitars have bee getting harder to find. Spens still has some in sock however: https://www.spensguitarsdenmark.dk/webshop/burns-london-guitars/

Hope this helps,

I bought a Burns SSJ last year, the two pick up model in black & red burst.
It's a great guitar, good quality and very easy to play and I'm looking forward to using it on stage when we're allowed to perform again.

Would agree with Dave that the SSJ is a great budget price guitar that punches
well above its weight in sounds and playability for everyday use. Every Bank Manager
would agree too!!

There aren’t many and don’t think there will be anymore ! Doesn’t seem to be on any list I’ve seen. I have the feeling there will be a lot of changes to the Burns we have come to know. The only place I know with good stocks still of various models including the new range is Spens guitars. Seems he got hold of good stocks from the last shipment around June 2020.

I had a workout with the Burns SSJ today through the Meazzi Echomatic and it sounds just like a Strat, I love it. :)

I always loved that red/black finish on these guitars. In 1963 we were mates with The Chevrons, a Sheffield group who bought a set of Vista Sonic guitars when they came out as Fender guitars were expensive by comparison. I was never really keen on the shape though, but remembered seeing the SSJ and fancying one back then.
If I'm being honest I prefer it to the Marvin and I can't wait to get it on the road and try it, as I bought it and we were grounded.
I also have a Brian May 'Red Special' that has the same pickups and I love it. I got it from Hotrox in Nottingham on-line, they sell a lot of Burns too. :)
