Burns Marvin 40th Anniversary pickups

Is there a way of adjusting the pickup height? There are screws at each end of the pickups but they don't seem to do anything apart from keep them in position and there's no mention of adjustment in the 'manual' that comes with the guitar.

Thanks.

They should adjust. Clockwise to raise and anti clockwise to lower. Check for stripped threads or screws that have been turned right out of the thread and left the pick up low. (That's on mine, which may be different as it's a later model!)

Belated thanks for the information which confirms what I thought. Further investigation would require the removal of the pickguard which I don't fancy so I'll leave things as they are,

Thanks again.

I took mine off last week, to check everything, in around 5 minutes. Remove strings, remove screws, lift fingerplates carefully, job done. Reverse to rebuild.

This is a photo of the underside of my pickguard taken whilst I was changing pickups. These are the noiseless versions but the mounting is the same as the regular Rez-o-Matiks ie a screw through the fibre base plate.

Thanks, Roger. Yes, it looks like the traditional Fender style setup so I'll perhaps have a fiddle with it - when I get the time and inclination!

Hi,
I don't bother to remove the strings. If there's enough spare length in the strings I loosen them and slide out the scratch guard. If not I remove strings from the machine heads and slip a rubber band around the neck to keep the stings from flying about

Removing and refitting the pickguard on a Burns Marvin is no big deal. The only possible disadvantage is the potential waste of a set of strings if you've only recently re-strung.

On a Strat, and I don't see why it wouldn't work on a Burns, I frequently fit longer leads to the signal and earth connections coming from the volume control, so that it is easier to lift the scratchplate out. Hope this helps someone.
