Mark Knopfler band

Postby George Geddes » 21 Sep 2009, 14:29

Just been watching the bonus DVD which comes with the new MK album 'Get lucky'

There's a studio session with the band playing 'Cleaning my gun' in which Richard Bennett gets a fabulous chiming 12-string sound from... a Burns Double Six. The more expensive, trem. version rather than the cheaper non-trem. green sunburst, too.

Maybe we'll see it on the tour?

Thanks George

I went to get this cd/dvd today but they only had the ordinary copy.

I will probably order it online now, nice to know it has some good footage.

That must be one of the two custom Burns Doublesixes Barry told me were ordered by Mark.

Apparently only 12 have been made, unless Hank's is another. I have asked Barry about it.

All the best, Nick.

The one Hank is using on the tour is an 'Apache' double six - it's a normal 12 string - rather than the one with the bass strings he used on the 1984 shows - I'm pretty sure.

Barry tells me it is one of three custom Doublesixes supplied to Hank for the tour.

Regards, Nick.
