Hi All

Just to clear up any confusion,I sent Barry Gibson a photograph and asked him to clarify
which guitar it is.

Barry say's it is a 64 model but the factory fitted the wrong neck plates, hence the reason
for the confusion.

Unfortunately shops who do not specialise in these guitars can be forgiven for not
having the correct description,I guess they were going on what the neckplate say's.

Hi Alan

If the Red Marvin you've pictured is for sale at Guitar Village in Farnham, Surrey be careful. It was originally £799 when I went and tried it out only to discover that it had a large "dig" in the top edge (broken the paintwork - looks bad). I reported the damage to the shop and they've now reduced it to £679 and described it as "ex-demo" without any mention of the damage. I've noticed that the case is no longer being included either so it's not a fantastic deal.

The guitar did play beautifully though and looked great - i was so disappointed that it was damaged.

Hi johnto

I am so glad you posted this.

You are correct,it is in Guitar Village, and they did own up to it being damaged.

They offered to send me a picture of the "Slight Knock" it had sustained, but that was last week
and I am still waiting.

No worries about buying it,I have bought one on David Martins recommendation, and I
should have it next Thursday.

Many thanks for the tip off anyway, just goes to show these shops will tell you anything over the phone
or in an email, I know it always pay's to go and see for yourself, but I am too far away.

Hi Alan

Glad that you've managed to buy one on David's recommendation. After I tried the damage one at Guitar Village and pointed out that it was damaged they were supposed to have called me about obtaining a replacement - but never did! I had to email them before they changed the description on their website. I'm disappointed that they still didn't mention that the guitar was damaged. Imagine if you had ordered this online and it turned up damaged!

Anyway, I've now ordered a Red Marvin elsewhere and am eagerly waiting it's arrival.

All the best
John

Hi John

It amazes me how guitar shops don't care about their reputation, they must be selling enough
instruments not to bother with the odd complaint.

If anyone ever asks what that shop company is like, they won't get my recommendation.

Glad you ordered a Red Marvin, mine is a Red Marvin Custom, which I hope to get on Thursday.

I hate waiting but I suppose it all adds to the suspense,at my age,I try not to do excitement,He He

Have a nice day.

Hi Alan

I totally agree with you. Guitar Village have let themselves down badly - I certainly won't be going back there. (Shame really - they are only a 20 minute drive from my house).

Anyway, let me know how you find your Red Marvin Custom - I bet it's a beauty :D

I don't think I'll be seeing my Red Marvin until December as the next limited batch isn't due to arrive until late November/early December. Still, I've got my trusty 1967 white Marvin to keep me going until then - I just can't wait to get my dream combination of a Marvin, in Red, with a bound maple fingerboard! (I love maple fingerboards).

All the best Alan

I just wanted to say that I have shopped at Guitar Village many times over the past 8 years and have always found them to be very helpful, their prices reasonable and their service honest and up front. This included buying 2 Burns guitars from them, purchasing online, purchasing from the U.S. and collecting from them etc.

For what it's worth...

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has (or knows someone with) a 2004 Burns Marvin Limited edition in white for sale...?

Electro Music in Doncaster had two @ £750 each - white second hand ones the last time I checked for a friend a couple of weeks ago, though it may now be only one . . . . . There's also a greenburst at the same price.
