BURNS MARVIN 012-052 ?

As any one with a Burns Marvin put a set of 012 - 052 Strings on ? would you have to put a 4th Tension Spring on the tremolo ?

Prob best just adjusting the two nuts at base of trem plate first!

I have a Custom De-Luxe fitted with 12-52s (DR with a wound 24) which is quite happy with three trem springs.

Having just got my Burns Custom,do you need to do any alteration
to the nut in order to use heavier strings?

I believe they come with 10/46,but I wanted to fit 11/49,but I am not goimg
to mess about with the nut.

I wouldn't do it personally, Alan... they play and sound great just as delivered....

I have 12-52s (DRs with a wound 24) on my Marvin Shadows Custom with no alteration to the nut. No problem at all. Three trem springs fitted although I usually fit 5 on the Strats I string with 12s.

I think I will be guided by David this time and keep them at 10/46.

My other guitars have 12/52's fitted so it will make a nice change.

On my original 65 Marvin I use 11-52 no problems,just with 3 springs.
My custombuild greenburst Marvin came with 11-49 no problems with 3 springs.
My 40th Anniversary Marvin came with 10-46 no problems with 3 springs.
Back then in the 60's ,12-52 would be a regulare set I reckon....
So the conclusion is...just adjust the two bolts on the baseplate and you'll be fine.
