Well I've owned four of the fifties Classic Vibes Strats and a couple of the sixties ones and all of them sounded terrific .
The only reason that I moved them on was because I have too many guitars and I'm trying to trim down, though I'm enjoying owning every one.
That said, if I was starting out as a guitarist today and I was looking for gear, I'd have a Squier Classic Vibe in Fiesta Red in a heartbeat, especially as I picked one up for £175.
I'd choose the Fender ToneMaster Deluxe for my amp as it DIs and mikes up perfecly and is very light. OK there are much less expensive amplifier options, but my choice is made from my experience of using most available.
My choice of Echo/FX would be the Zoom MS-100 as it does everything, in fact I now have two because they are that good, then there's one other pedal I'd add to perfect the tone, for live and recording work, the JHS Colorbox 2. :)
