UAFX Ruby Vox in a Box pedal

Postby roger bayliss » Wed May 25, 2022 12:11 am

The UAFX Ruby is a Vox in a Box pedal with speaker cab emulation and extra drive options like treble booster, EP3.

It come with an app for presets and tone design etc.

Based on a 63 Vox Top Boost channel and vibrato channel plus 61 normal channel.

Tone controls are interactive like original amp and top cut. Might be a good pairing with a full range speaker ?

Sounds interesting, but priced about £330

They have 2 other amp pedals on offer see website.

Again as many other demos similar, not showing the clean tones/ vintage as most of us here desire.
Pricey to boot as well!!

yikes, rather expensive but if it sounds good clean and authentic, then great.

Would not the Vox mystic edge be a cheaper choice, and being from Vox should be good as their Vox models on the Valvetronix range over the years were pretty good?

Yes it is a bit pricey, and I managed to find a few demo's of clean sounds and it dies sound quite authentic, but would be nice to try one out.

It is as they say an accurate emulation of a 63 AC30 TB and 61 AC30 Normal channel . You can use these through effects loop to bypass an amps preamp or use a full range speaker or PA. The speaker emulation is from their acclaimed Ox attenuator box

If the emulation of a vintage 63 Vox is good , it might be worth a punt give such amps can be £3000 - £5000 typ.

Might be more clean demo's once pedals are on sale .

Just had a listen to the demo on youtube and the ruby sounds really good with plenty of options. As Roger says a clean demo would be good to access the potential for shadows tones, but does look promising especially if no other types of amp models are required so actually cheaper than the likes of Helix, Boss etc as you won't need their mass of amp choices or effects (most of which I have never heard of or need).

Here is a studio evaluation of the three UAFX amp pedals alongside the real amps.

They do seem really good overall , depending how you use them.

There are time stamps in description if you want to skip to various parts
