It may be that I haven't been taking my porridge these mornings, due to the unseasonal warmth here in North Britain, but the bands barely stretch at all. The cable tie arrangement seems to work OK. I have three spare bands and 99 spare cable ties...

Plastic, Jim? That's industrial strength rubber, my boy. (OK, the cable ties are plastic, but they shouldn't touch the guitar.
