Mighty Mite Necks

Has anyone had any experience with Mighty Mite necks?
I've been looking for a birdseye maple neck for a project and came across one on the dreaded 'bay'.

Hi

I have a Mighty Mite Strat neck and I'm happy with it. It's a rosewood board and it just needed a bit of tidying up of the fret ends. I don't know what the birdseye neck would be like but look carefully at how it is built. Some have a separate birdseye fingerboard rather than being one piece.

A one piece maple neck you can recognize. If you look at the back side of the neck and you see an inlay (mostly brown) strip it's a one piece maple neck. If there is no inlay strip, it has an separate fingerboard. The reason is the metal bar in the neck to adjust the neck bending. In case of an separate fingerboard the bar is mounted from the fingerboard side, before the fingerboard is mounted. In the other case it is mounted from the backside, you need there an inlay strip.

The "skunk stripe" on the back of the neck is not necessarily an indication that it's a one piece neck. It may still have a separate fingerboard. The only way to tell is to check for a glue line at the fingerboard edge or transition into the headstock (often difficult in a photograph) or a change in grain pattern.

I have used a Mighty Mite neck for a couple of years on a guitar I put together myself based on parts supplied by online shops. I think they are well finished and I have had no problems, and consider it good value for money.
