Early equipment that I used and wished I kept

My first bass amp which I also used for guitar was a 15w Broadway in two tone red and cream. The amplifier was housed in the speaker cabinet in a separate cabinet this could be slid out to separate the amplifier and eliminate shaking the valves when playing bass. It also had a built in tremolo 12" Goodmans 15w speaker. I sold it to get my first Vox never seen one since?
Our first PA amp was a Vortexion was valve and had a grey metal cabinet and 2 chrome carrying handles. It was rated at 15w. I think we used Selmer columns which fitted together face to face with locks securing them together.
My first recorder was a reel to reel Ferrograph which at the time was an amazing machine and I sometimes used itas an amp

Wish I had kept them all

My first "proper" electric guitar was a Futurama II - a Christmas present from my parents, very grateful at the time but fairly useless!! First proper amp was a Selmer Selectortone with one 15 inch speaker, I discovered that I could boost the volume by putting a mic preamp between my guitar (by this time home made with a Vox pickup) and the amp...........yeah.....distortion!! This was a gradual victim of spilt beer. I still have the body and neck of that guitar in an attic drawer.

The worst mistake was to sell a 1960s 2 x 10 Ampeg valve combo I had which would probably be worth a lot now!

I still have a Simms-Watts tape echo for what it's worth.

In 1968 I swapped a Vox AC15 that I'd bought new in 1963 for a record player.
I also gave away a Binson because I thought it was crap

I still have my first proper electric guitar - a 1962 Top Twenty.

I regret getting rid of my first amp - made by my Dad - and my second amp -a Selmer Caravelle.

I also regret selling my Martin Colleti arch-top from my school days, fitted with Egmond pick-ups (again by my Dad) and a proper Bigsby tremolo.

I also regret getting rid of a lot of my early cars, but that's another story!!!!!

I bought a secondhand 1960 Gibson ES335 (cherry with a dot neck and factory fitted Bigsby) in about 1965 and later in the 60s sold it to buy a Hotpoint twin tub washing machine

My regret is selling a 1962 Fiesta Red Stratocaster in 1967.
I was getting married and as no-one seemed to want Strats,
it raised the princely sum of 30 pounds!
Sadly, I now have neither.
Cheers,
JB

Well I cab think of loads but the ones that standout are:

1978 Gibson Explorer - sold in 79
2004 Burns 40th Anniversary Marvin - sold in 09
1972 Rickenbacker 4001 - sold last year

Honorary mention should go to the Peavey special 130 I bought in 1983 and didn't sell until 1999. It did nearly 200 gigs with me including some on bass! I was expecting great things of the Peavey Classic 50 I bought to replace it, unfortunately it was a great disappointment and only stayed for 3 months before being part-exchanged for a Marshall Valvestate 265 which I still have.
