Burns Shad O Tone pedal

Postby David Martin » Wed Nov 18, 2015 6:27 pm

A few years back I suggested to Barry Gibson of Burns UK that he should market a pedal which would emulate the tone sweep of a DeArmond 610 pedal but at a more affordable price.

After a few goes, this became the Burns Shad O Tone pedal.

On one of the Burns groups on Facebook there is an animated discussion about these, some folks saying they don't work and are best avoided... But I thought they were OK.

I demoed one playing live at St Neots Club with Stephen Swann - sorely missed - on rhythm, Iain Purdon on Bass, and Ron Innes on drums. The recording was done on the spur of the moment on a hand held device and is not od studio quality... What do you think?

I obtained one about 10 years ago,but overall was a bit disappointed with the depth of the volume swell.
However it could be down to other factors in the connection links to the other effects and amp.
Time to extract it from its original box and perhaps persevere with it.!!!!
Funnily enough a very cheap Behringer Pedal I found had a better swell and a knob to adjust the volume swell
to a higher level.

Nothing on the iPad, just a picture of an arrow that doesn't respond when pressed. :|

As far as I can tell, the link is to a *.wav file for download. On this PC at least, it does not play out online; you have to download it and open it in a media app capable of playing wavs (Audacity certainly, maybe Windows Media Player).

Just going to download it now, though I think I've heard the recording before.

I've got one and am quite happy with it although I haven't had the opportunity to compare it directly with anything else.

This pedal doesn't do volume swells, Mike, just the tone sweep...

When double-clicked, the lady pen.wav version downloads on my Mac Pro and then plays immediately with Quick Time Player.
