What guitar is Cliff playing here?

Unusual...anyone know what the guitar is?

It looks like an electric solid body 12 string- but doesn't look like a Fender, Burns, or Vox - possibly a European brand? From Cliff's hairstyle etc, it looks to be from 60-61 era?

Looks like a White Strat to me. It could be just the angle & perspective of the photo that makes it look like a larger instrument. Also , I think it has just six strings, that are vibrating & it appears like more.
Remember the Shads had White Fenders for a short period after the Fiesta Red set.

That guitar is a (rare) Vox Bouzouki 12-string from around mid-1963.

There are several pictures of Cliff with it. Some of them show more of the guitar and the Vox logo engraving can be seen on the metal covers of the three Vox V-1 "single pole" pickups.

Bigger, better, picture:

That's quite an action on that guitar.

It wouldn't have fazed Django, but...

Hi
I upscaled the image and the 12 strings are clearly visible!

Ahhh! Thanks JimN!

I did wonder whether it was one of those Vox 12 strings, but the limited view of the body threw me off the scent!

I think Vic Flick used one of those- e.g. he played one on Peter & Gordon's 'World without Love'...IIRC! :D

Ah, that's a better view. I haven't seen one of those before.

AHA - I can see it's a VOX now!

And if you think that action is high - you should see some of my Strats!
