50th Anniversary Shadows Stratocaster

Postby bor64 » Tue Oct 30, 2018 11:07 pm

A friend of mine asked me last week, which strat of mine has the same or nearest pickup "strength" as the 34346 strat...
As far as my knowledge goes has nearly every pre-cbs strat different pickup windings turns and therefore it's almost impossible to know what the famous strat has under the bonnet.
I can imagine not a lot of folks, are into the know about the red old lady, so my thoughts go out to the 50th anniversary strat.
It seems that Fender did go to great length to copy this iconic guitar in detail.
So I've a humble request...Would somebody, who owns a sample of this fine guitar or knows the actual facts of the original holy grail strat pickups facts, like how much kilo Ohm etc....please be so kind to inform me? Perhaps in PM or here.
I know the G pole magnet of the 34346 is as low as the pole of the high E on all 3 pickups, that's a rarity on it's own.
Thank you!

Cheers Rob

Rob,

I produced a fact sheet on these guitars some years ago but did not go into the precise detail which you are seeking. Howard Gillespie at Oasis Musical Instruments (www.oasismusic.co.uk) is truly the man to ask as he commissioned the run and was closely involved in all the planning of the specification. He is a member here but you can contact him directly through his business whose details are available on line.

Cheers, Ian

Thanks Tony,

I've send you a pm back.

Ian,
I love the work you've done about the HM Signature Strats!
Contacting Howard....it crossed my mind...isn't that to bold?
I mean, the guy gets presumably dozens of emails a day...and there is me "nagging" for some details, between mails he's is owning his business with.

Cheers Rob

Hi Rob,

Thanks for your kind words.

Howard is a very genuinely helpful, friendly and well informed guy. There's little he won't know about the original Stratocaster. Tell him I recommended you speak with him - I am sure he would be pleased to tell you what he knows.

Best regards,

Ian

Hi Ian,

Thanks for your support!
Yesterday I've mailed Howard, sadly before I visit this site, so I couldn't mention you in my message.
I used Tony's name as a introduction, which he advices me to do in pm.
So I'm looking forwards for a reply by Howard.

Cheers Rob
