a little less effect from stanlyfx baby blue

Postby negninegaw » Mon Jun 03, 2019 2:24 pm

I use a StaneyFx baby blue pedal on stage.
For some (non Shadows) numbers it gives too much echo. I wonder how I could reduce the amount of echo without changing the character of the sound
There is a small 'drive' pot, and the manual says there is also an internal trim pot.
I haven't had a chance yet to find out what the 'drive' pot does exactly, the manual leaflet says it also influences the tone character, and it should be used in combination with the internal trim pot.
Could someone explain how this works?

turn the dry/wet signal down a bit and that should reduce the echo amount?

I think that reduces the number of echo's instead of making them less loud.

it shouldnt be! The feedback reduces the how long the repeats go on for. The wet/dry knob should be how much echo against dry signal there is

The wet/dry knob regulates the tempo of the repeats...

I've just read the manual, and it doesn't effect the tempo in any of the programmes. It does exactly what it says except for programme 5, where it changes the level.

Thanks, Stu's Dad,

On my pedal the Dry/Wet knob regulates the tempo of the repeats.
What do you mean with programme 5 ?

It means the level of the echo, which I assume is what you want to do. Have you not got the instructions? If not, you can download them here http://www.stanleyfx.co.uk/pedals.html. Unfortunately he's on holiday until the 14th June. If you don't want to wait until then, send me your email address in a personal message and I'll send you a copy of mine.

No it doesn't do anything to the 'tempo' of the repeats. It adjusts the 'volume' or level of the echo (wet) signal compared to the volume of the dry signal. The Feedback knob controls the number of repeats, the Emulation knob selects one of the emulated echo machines and the Patch knob selects one of the settings of the chosen machine - usually this is a combination of the replay heads but in the 'E2C' it controls the Head 4 level (and the Wet/Dry controls the level of Heads 1, 2 and 3. For the R301 (Roland RE301) it controls the simulated motor speed (i.e. the delay time).

I'm sure this is all explained in the manual which you should have got a copy of with your Baby Blue. As Mick is on holiday you may need to ask Len to send you a copy in the meantime.
