Hi, looking for advice if poss.

I am thinking of getting a not too expensive second hand Squire,
which one does anyone think is the best to look out for?
Just to play basic Shads numbers.

Although it's not the greatest of the Squier models, the basic 'entry level' Squier Bullet Strat is fine for playing Shadows tunes. The 'Affinity' models are very nice too, but usually cost more.

I'm currently using a secondhand Bullet as my joint main gigging guitar along with another older Asian made Strat copy, and I had another Bullet some years back which i also used for gigs etc.

Average secondhand prices here in Oz where I am are very reasonable, if you don't have much money. The new models are still quite affordable of course, if you prefer a new guitar.

They often need to be adjusted and/or set up to improve action etc, but that applies to many other more expensive models too..

The more expensive Squier Strats range from good to excellent, but prices are noticeably higher...some new top of the range Squier models are almost the same price as new Fenders!

but now I will keep my eyes out for a second hand one. We have a few
Cash transformer shops here, that sometimes have them in.

Hi Norman,
I understand you don't want to spend too much cash, so my opinion would be to go for a Squier Bullet Strat , which I understand is available in Fiesta Red. If you can go a little higher in price, then the Squier 'Classic Vibe' series Strats are really good quality & have the correct vintage style Alnico magnet pickups. They are in the £300-400 range brand NEW , but you will be able to find many second hand ones around.

Thanks Tony, yes don't really want to spend a lot of cash
nearly eighty and just want something to have a go with at a Shadows
day. Haven't played with a live Shad's band for well over fifty years.
Just something I'd like to do before the big hand comes down and grabs me.
My guitar I've had forever is a Burns Baldwin Virginian. It's done it's wack for me over the years
but I don't really want to use it outside home as like me it's a bit fragile now.

Try going for a second hand model - otherwise 30% percent of your hard-won cash is going straight to the taxman!

Go for it! We all started with something cheap! I've found lots of bargains in the cash converters/pawn shops for under £50. I will see if I can post a pic of the squire start I bought from a pawn shop for £50 in 2012. Traded it back to them couple of weeks ago for a good basic acoustic.
