RFX2000 fault

Postby LONGPLAYER09 » Mon Nov 22, 2021 10:40 am

Hi My RFX2k has recently developed a fault. I use it in the most basic mode. Now, when i a select an effect, the number on the Display will remain stable for a short while & then hunt around. Hence the output is scrambled! Any thoughts please.
Thanks

These things are notorious for cracked solder joints on the PCB - I've repaired a number of them.
But at least it's an easy fix!

Look along the front of the PCB where all the control pots are soldered in. I suspect you'll find some hairline cracks in the joints.
It wouldn't hurt to reflow the joints anyway while you've got it stripped down. As you will see when you open the unit the PCB relies on those joints for support instead of putting a couple of cheap brackets in to support it.
