I've not tried the vintage single coils, but i can vouch for the general quality of Wilkinson pickups. i wanted to replace the rather dull, stock, far east made humbuckers in my Epiphone Les Paul about five years ago. I picked the Wilkinson vintage-style humbuckers to replace them, & was amazed at the difference in the tone I got. The Les Paul suddenly came to life & started breathing. It's still not quite right for Shads sounds, but the relatively budget guitar now sounds a lot nearer to it's famous Gibson big brother, & I would never part with it. I would go for it, if I were you. The quality & value are there, & Trev certainly knows what he's doing.

Tony.
