What a fascinating instrument! I'm tempted but I only recently bought a Squier CV Tele.
I hope you get a good price for it but if not, don't fret! (Sorry about that).

Hi peter 'n' all

I've never had a fret less guitar, but I've had a couple of fret less bass.

With the bass you listen far more to the pitch, always put me in mind of Star Wars - feel the force - rather than look at the neck look away from it and play after a while you find you're hitting the notes you're aiming at, of course whether they are the right notes is a different matter entirely.

You get some lovely rounded sounds, and great slides but of course that's bass, I've always thought the thinner strings on a guitar would be dampened on a fret less.

The most famous brand, I believe, is Vigier

No doubt someone can enlighten us

I don't play guitar but I have heard a fretless Strat copy in use by a live blues band (the excellent Storm Warning). The guy had seen one on YouTube and bought a cheap Italian made guitar, took the frets out and gave it a light sanding - he hadn't even filled in the grooves at that stage. It had a unique sound, certainly reminiscent of a fretless bass but also with elements of slide - but then that probably had a lot to do with his fingering.

It's a tricky thing to play, left hand is much like a cello technique, especially vibrato.
Forget chords, they sound dreadful.
A serious and interesting addition to any guitarist's armoury.
Treat it like a 12 string, useful, but not all the time.

Past tense.... it was sold.
Mind you, I got another fretless neck with a highly polished stainless steel fingerboard..... hmmmm.

I noticed that Tony, I wondered if you'd end up with it.

Here's something else you might like...

Vintage... But blue is not my colour I am afraid. Is the sheet that they are on or sale though - or is it the shirt off your back?!
