Great drummer. Another one gone.
I saw The Moody Blues in concert in Nottingham in 1984. Graeme Edge was probably the first person I saw using Syndrums - or at least playing a kit which included them - on Top of the Pops in 1978. This was a short while before I saw Brian using them on Love De Luxe.
Great drummer and also a great lyricist.

I had tried to nominate Justin Hayward for a knighthood a couple of years ago, but it seemed impossible to do for a 'layman' so remote from a star. The very day Graeme died the relevant department contacted me out of the blue about my long forgotten and incomplete application. Coincidence? I don't think so.
I sent a blistering reply about how stupid the system appeared to be, and told them about Graeme and said time was running out for modest heroes like Hayward.
It's no wonder the honours list appears so bonkers most years.

I's a shame that Graeme never really appeared on the radar as being considered one of the greats.
But remember this - no good band ever had a bad drummer.

Graeme's 'Riverdance' dancing (and some!) during the Higher and Higher riot over the last few Moodies tours was an absolute show stopper - catch it on Youtube if you haven't seen it.
Saw him one year really stagger down his steps from the drums to the mic to give us a poem -'too much Viagra' he announced.
Always assumed Animal from The Muppets was based on him as well.

I saw the Moodies in California about 20 years ago. A terrific show. Graeme prepared to read
Late Lament as part of
Nights in White Satin and told us - Don't worry, I'm not going to sing
A great drummer in a great band. RIP
Andrew
