Just heard the sad news that Roger Newell has passed .
Another great bass player who influenced so many musicians
and a nice genuine guy who had time for everybody.

Roger Newell kept the Wildcats rocking. We owe him our appreciation. Both Licorice and Jet rated him. Condolences to his nearest and dearest.

So sad and shocked to hear this. Saw Roger many times with Marty and the Wildcats. Had a chat with him when Jet toured with them and he mentioned the Paladium gig where he said he had achieved a life time ambition - he'd played on stage with the Shadows! hank. Bruce. Brian , Jet and Licorace! RIP

We join in expressing our sympathies regarding the passing of Roger. He was a great friend and we'll miss him and the long chats we used to have about The Shadows, one of his favourite bands. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Gilly so stay strong girl.........

When my son was in his final year at University, he was working on a feature about the music scene in Edinburgh. He needed some quotes so I emailed Roger (who I had corresponded with in the past) who provided exactly what was needed. After my son got his results, I dropped Roger a note of thanks. He replied with an email to my son, with loads of helpful advice. He was that kind of guy.

Condolences to his family and friends.

Just got the sad news that Roger Newell recently passed away. He was a superb bass player having played with Rick Wakeman, Marty Wilde and others. He was a man of our era and of course backed Jet on some Marty Wilde tours. My deep condolences to Roger's family and friends and to his Wildcat bandmates. A lovely approachable guy and great loss to the music we all love.
