Scrolling down. the video comparing the sounds of the P-bass and the J-bass is fascinating. The reason why the P- bass is so easy to play (and was taken up so easily by bass players) is never mentioned. My theory is that the strap button on the upper horn is opposite the 12th fret, which means that a player with short arms (Hi, Jet!) can reach the lower frets.
