This may be a silly question (I'm not a bass player) but can a Jazz Bass neck be fitted to a Precision Bass body?

Fender Squier P-Bass Special is just such a guitar. It is a Precision body, with a Jazz neck and both the P-Bass PU AND a Jazz PU nearer the bridge.

Hi
Yes a Fender Jazz bass neck will fit a Fender precision body
if it is a non Fender Neck or Body I would measure it just to make sure?

Thanks guys.
I own a Japanese P. Bass circa 1990 but I find the neck on it uncomfortably large and I seem to remember that the Jazz bass neck is much slimmer and easier to use if you are (like me) small handed.
Kind regards,
Terry

Hi Paul & Tab
I tried out a friend's Squier P-Bass Special yesterday and, whilst the neck is certainly not as wide as a Fender Precision it definitely was not anywhere near my Jazz neck -(this really is just IMHO but I would certainly try one out - next to a Fender Jazz - before you purchase).
Best wishes

It's only a plain old Affinity P Bass, John - no Jazz Bass pickup...
You're right about the neck, though.

I have done it the other way round, J to P neck. They are interchangeable, but unless you know how to "square" or aline the neck properly you may have problems. More expensive but surefire option is to get a pro or someone who can set up to do it.
