Very unlikely.

Only John Rostill ever used an original Burns Shadows Bass (even if it was later re-badged to read "Baldwin"). John had two examples: one sunburst, one white. The whereabouts of the white model are known. That one definitely isn't it (and it is a genuine Baldwin-era example, with subtle differences from the original 1963/64 design).

I suspect he means that it is similar to one used by the Shadows bassist rather than being the actual bass, which as Jim said it is definitely not...

That said, the price does seem quite reasonable for a bass of that vintage

Thanks for the information,it is a good price for a Baldwin Bass Made in 1965
But as Mentioned Very unlikely To have been Used by John Rostill
Video clips Show The Headstock is completely Different, with the Machine Heads Of John's Bass In Line
Not Staggered Like the Bass listed.

the reply from the seller is:
no proof as such but my dad has had it since 1967 given to him by someone who bought it from the shadows.

Hmmm. I suppose it is possible that the Shads were given Baldwins which they never used but I doubt it... I'll give the seller the benefit of the doubt and say it's not done with fraudulent intent.

Helps me put a value on my Baldwin, though!

The photos accompanying this auction reveal a couple of owner modifications. There are two extra screws holding the left-hand horn section of the scratchplate, but a more important amendment concerns the pickup selector, which has been replaced by a trio of mini-switches, and this sort of irreversible alteration adversely affects vintage value. Also, the machine heads employ metal buttons, while pickups are the bigger bar-magnet type, both features suggesting a later production date than 1965.
