The Fentones

Postby davidturner » Wed Dec 28, 2011 5:34 pm

I know I know its not the Shadows. I went to the Shadowmania event this year and enjoyed it very much. I also seen Bill Bonney from the Fentones playing his bass to 'The Mexican' (during the pre-shadowmania evening) I thought it was a great piece. I would like to learn it however it seems to be near impossible to get the sheet music for the bass guitar. Has any one any ideas on how or where to get it?

DavidTurner,
'The Mexican' has always been a great favourite of mine since I first heard in the '60s' live gig by 'Shane Fentone &The Fentones' and particular the bass.
I do have a very tattered 'original' copy of the music manuscript published 1962 by 'Francis,Day & Hunter Ltd', 138-140, Charing Cross Rd, London WC 2.
If your familar with MIDI, there is a very accurate version of the original which the bass score can be obtained.
The bass sound is IMHO is very much like Jet Harris 'Kon-tiki'. Fantastic

"The Mexican" has an excellent pedigree, being co-composed by Morgan Jones, also co-composer with Bill Crompton of "The Stranger".

Hello, Tony. Is the MIDI downloadable from somewhere? Many thanks.
