Hi, Micky.
On Stingray, Hank used a Fender Bass VI (six-string bass) as the lead instrument, doubled with a guitar in certain parts. The Fender was also routed via a (Gibson) Maestro Fuzztone, which saw service on The Warlord and one or two other tracks of the period.

Checked it all out and nothing. Is there anyone on here that knows how to get the Stingray sound or is there a fuzz pedal I can use, who actually played Stingray was it Jet or Brian, surely some one can help me.
Thank you Mickyd

Micky
Not quite sure what other details you need.
If you are talking about the melody on Stingray, Hank was using a Fender Bass VI with a fuzz box as Jim said in his post. As far as the backing is concerned, John Rostill would be the bass player, presumably either using a Burns Shadows bass or his favourite Fender Jazz Bass. As Dave pointed out, the Foot Tappers played it at Shadowmania without a six-string bass so it can be done.

Can you help us out here Mickey - checked 'what' all out exactly . . . . and nothing ? - Folks can't offer advice unless you explain what it is you can't do.
Jim and George Geddes have explained precisely what was used and how it was done - it really isn't that difficult to make a sound as awful as that.

Where's the problem boys?
Some bloke called Ecca seems to have cracked it. No need to buy a six string bass and you can use the Roland for a couple of other things as well.
For the record, it sounds spiffing live.
Cheers, Alan.
p.s. if you're asking how they originally did it then the Roland isn't the answer.
However if you're asking how to do it now, refer to this link.

Wash your
mouth out, Alan!
There is (was)
every need to buy a six-string bass!
Why?
Because I
wanted one, that's why!
Need I have a better reason?

Hi Micky
as pointed out Hank played this on a fender 6 string bass or " Fender Bass VI "to give its proper name.
originaly using a Gibson Fuzz effect.
See Youtube of Shadowmania 2005 below With David Martin Playing Stingray with his Fender BassVI
This would have been as close to line up when performed by The shadows themselves with burns guitars.
Bruce on rhythm, John rostill on Bass ,and Brian Bennett on drums
This can be played on a standard 4 string bass as played by Adrian of The Foot tappers At shadowmania 2011
using a fuzz , distorsion or overdrive effect.
Most multi effects pedals will have a usable or editable fuzz , distortion or overdrive effect you can use
to get close enough to the lead sound.
hope this explains what you are looking for
Regards
Jay
