Jet Harris - From There to Here - new DVD

Postby David Martin » Mon Sep 24, 2012 4:29 pm

I've just received a copy of this new DVD which charts Jet's life from his very early years to just before his death...

All sorts of well known folks appear to help Jet chart his life - our own Jim Nugent (he's very clean...), Marty Wilde, Wee Willy Harris, Chas McDevitt, Mo Foster, Frank Allen, Colin Pryce-Jones to name but a few. But no Shadows. Strange?

One or two previously unseen pics, cuts from Jet's final album - The Journey, a tour round some of the old stamping ground in Soho, his cottage on the Isle of Wight, and some back stage stuff of him preparing for theatre gigs... but no complete tunes.

So why is this worthwhile? Some of us had the privilege of spending extended time in Jet's company, and, once he got to know you, the frankly terrifying stare and staccato conversation disappeared, and the humble, and quite shy, man was more evident. The DVD allows all of us to achieve that relationship and hear the man's own words - warts and all about his life together with the assessment of his contemporaries.

It's not a supersmooth mega-production but the work of largely one man... so don't expect cinemascope. But DO expect to feel close to the man himself, miss him, and mourn his passing.
